Light up your Special Event!
Lighting up your wedding reception doesn't only mean flipping on the light switch. If you want to transform your hall from the traditional to something stunning, then you’d probably take an illuminating approach to your overall décor. Lighting helps you create a mood. And when it is done excellently, it can enhance all the other aspects of your ceremony (flowers, cakes, guests) to look a whole lot better.
Look for a lighting pro. There are several ways for you to find your 'lighting' specialist. You can ask your planner (if you hired one) or maybe a NY decorator. There are several of them who can do their own lighting. You may also ask the coordinator for your ceremony site to suggest a lighting company that has previously worked with the area. Don’t be surprised if you land into someone who has a theatre background. These professionals are using the same lighting technology as they do on stage.
Closely examine your location. If you have decided on a dinner reception, make sure you drop by when it is dark outside. Look everywhere and determine where fixed lighting is being focused. Ask the coordinator if they have dimmer for their overhead lighting system. Service doors must be concealed to avoid ruining the lighting effects.
Try to add some color into your lighting. Try to blend your colored lights with your palette. If you are using sage as the color theme, do away with green lighting. You don’t want too much green in one setting. Green may not always be that flattering. Go for colors that will blend with many types of skin tones like soft rose and magenta. Change shades throughout the night.
Set up something unique for an outdoor wedding. Lighting an outdoor affair may serve different purposes. if your venue has paths that people will use for the night, keep the steps illuminated with the help of paper lanterns and other luminarias. Create a bold statement by using posh sculptural lights like large orbs and vertical poles. Design your table centerpiece with clear glass marbles and tiny battery operated lights for an interesting glow.
Make sure you choose the appropriate lights. Your wedding site's layout will tell what lighting techniques are appropriate for use. If the banquet and dance floor are in the same room, use a form of color wash to separate the dance floor. For sprawling ceilings, pin spot lighting is something that would work best.
